Last week, the NY Times published an article and slide show with tips on planning an affordable family ski weekend (I especially enjoyed the adorable photo of the pint-sized skier in the pink jumpsuit in the first frame). Growing up outside of Boston, my family wasn’t big on skiing, but I have fond memories of road trips to Pennsylvania to visit the grandparents and having sing-alongs in the back seat with my little brother. What are your favorite memories from a family vacation? Leave a comment, and let us know!

Avid skiers know how quickly lift tickets, ski gear, and all the other essentials can add up. “More snow, less dough” in MSNBC’s family travel section offers 10 ways to keep costs down during a family ski trip. Tip #1 recommends that you book early to take advantage of early bird specials.

We also want to help skiers save money, so we’re offering 20% off 3,5 and 7-day Powder Passports now through October 18. Of course, with Powder Passport, you don’t have to book ahead, because the card gives you the flexibility to hit the slopes on your own time (with no blackout dates). Happy skiing!
