Affordable Family Ski Weekends

Last week, the NY Times published an article and slide show with tips on planning an affordable family ski weekend (I especially enjoyed the adorable photo of the pint-sized skier in the pink jumpsuit in the first frame). Growing up outside of Boston, my family wasn’t big on skiing, but I have fond memories of road trips to Pennsylvania to visit the grandparents and having sing-alongs in the back seat with my little brother. What are your favorite memories from a family vacation? Leave a comment, and let us know!

At Santa’s very kind request, our workshop has gone POLAR EXPRESS this year! All US Ground standard shipping orders placed before December 21st (12pm, Eastern Standard Time) will automatically be upgraded to ensure arrival before Christmas Day.

Here’s 6 Reasons Your Skier Will LOVE the Powder Passport:

  1. The credit-card sized pass fits snuggly into a jacket pocket–or a stocking.
  2. With a choice of 16 Northeast Mountains, skiers never have to wait for the snow to come to them; they can follow the snow wherever it goes.
  3. Cards are available in 1, 2, 3, 5 & 7-Day passes. Once skiers choose the number of days they’d like, they are free to be spontaneous with their ski plans.
  4. Free pocket-sized guidebook filled to the brim with trail maps, mountain descriptions and directions.
  5. Comes pre-loaded with discounts to mountain resorts, private lessons, and ski shops. Perfect for planning those romantic skiing weekends or spur-of-the-moment ski outings with friends.
  6. NO BLACKOUT DATES means that instead of spending all day cooped up on Christmas, New Years, & Presidents day, skiers can treat their family (and themselves) to a day on the slopes. That’s one way to burn off the Christmas ham & egg nog!

If you have skiers on your list this holiday season, give them the gift of freedom and flexibility!

In the true spirit of the holiday season, Waterville Valley Resort has announced its “1,000 Can Challenge” to collect food for New Hampshire food pantries suffering a shortage.  From now until Sunday, December 16, Waterville Valley will take canned food donations to help re-stock the area food banks, which are suffering a shortage this year.

And to top it all off, they are offering an incentive for skiers and riders to donate.  There will be a raffle drawn on the last day of the food drive, with the prize being a $100 Waterville Valley Gift Card.  For every can you donate, in turn you’ll receive a WV raffle ticket – bring in one can and you get one entry.  Bring two and you get two tickets and on it goes. So when packing up the car for a great day of skiing, throw in a can or two for your chance to win!
